Three World-Class Majors

Computer Science

We are pleased that you are interested in our School of Computer Science. Join us, and become part of the program behind some of the most exciting advances ever achieved in the Computer Science (CS) field.

What is Computer Science?

Computer Science is the study of computing and what computers can do. CS trains students to use algorithmic thinking to solve problems and to learn how to organize and analyze data.

Computer scientists are at the forefront of technological innovation. They create intelligence, control machinery, create media, design robots, and create knowledge tools.

A Program Unlike Any Other

The Carnegie Mellon approach emphasizes theory and problem solving. It’s not just about learning to program in Java or C++. It’s about the ability to adapt and improve as new platforms, languages and methodologies emerge.

This unique approach sets Carnegie Mellon apart from our peers. It has also enabled our remarkable history of research and innovation in such areas as robotics, human computer interaction, and entertainment technology.

A Prestigious Degree

After completion of the major requirements, School of Computer Science graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. This is exactly the same Computer Science degree awarded to our graduates in the United States.
