How to Apply

To apply for admission to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, you’ll need to submit the following documents and take the required tests by the application deadline, March 1, 2010:

  • Application Form -We prefer students apply online, a process for which you will need to create a username and password. You can also apply with a paper application; download all application materials here. Only transfer students may apply for Spring 2010 (December 1, 2009 deadline).
  • Personal Essay (part of the Application Form)
  • Official and complete academic transcripts from all secondary schools and/or universities attended including all courses taken and all grades received for grades 10, 11, and 12.
  • One letter of recommendation from a college counselor, principal, or academic advisor.
  • Two letters of recommendation from teachers or professors.
  • Official SAT or ACT results:
    • Click here to register for the SAT - Use code 4246 for official SAT score reports to be sent to Carnegie Mellon.
    • Click here to register for the ACT - Use code 5269 for official ACT score reports to be sent to Carnegie Mellon.
    • Qatar residents can also register for the Residual ACT exams in Education City by coming in person to the Office of Admission.  You will need to bring your ID or passport and QAR 250 in cash to register.
  • Official TOEFL or IELTS results:
  • Copy of passport ID page and two passport-size photos (for applicants outside of Qatar only).
  • Application Fee of QAR 250 or USD 70

    The application fee can be paid by bank draft, wire, or cash (in Qatari Riyals).  If applying from outside of Qatar, please pay by bank draft payable to CarnegieMellonUniversity or by wire. Bank drafts can be made out in either Qatari Riyals or United States Dollars. Wiring instructions are available on request by sending an email to ug-admission@qatar.cmu.edu.

Plan a Personal Visit

All prospective students are encouraged to schedule a visit to Carnegie Mellon in Education City and meet with a member of the admission staff.
