More About Khalid Al-Sooj

Fall 2006

I learned basic Spanish and joined Carnegie Mellon's football team.

Spring 2007

I improved my reading and writing skills by taking Interpretation and Arguments course. In addition, I took an advanced Java programing course which played an important role in improving my programming skills.

Fall 2007

This is when I got interested in the new major Information Systems and started taking introductory courses. Additionally, this was an important year for me because my soccer team won the championship of Education City.

Spring 2008

I took the big step and switched to Information Systems after completing many Computer Science courses and becoming an experienced programmer.

Fall 2008

I got introduced to the core concepts and skills required to pursue my IS major.

Spring 2009

My team and I developed our first successful online system (Cross Registration System) and got awarded for our CRS poster in MOM for the best poster design. 
 

More About Shweta Seetharaman

Summer 2008

I completed a two and a half month internship at Ernst & Young, Qatar. It was probably the best of the four internship experiences I have had so far. It was enriching, enjoyable, but more than anything else, my knowledge bank grew, not just with the know-how's of the work process, but also about the various industries thriving in Qatar.

Fall 2008

My first semester of Freshman year at Carnegie Mellon was exciting and absolutely eventful. It was a whole new level of exposure to multicultural diversity. I grew, not just academically, but also as a person.

September 2008

The Apprentice "Doha Style" is played host to by the Carnegie Mellon Business Association, annually. The competition involved some rigorous tasks including marketing and money making exercises and
our team walked out with first position!

December 2008

I was part of one of the first two teams to ever represent Carnegie Mellon, Qatar at the World Universities Debating Championship at Cork, Ireland. I learned that debating, as a sport, is such an intense and energetic movement world over, but more than anything else, it is a LOT of fun.

May 2009

I went to Pittsburgh to do a Summer Session at the Carnegie Mellon home campus. During the six weeks that I spent there, I met some fun people, explored our beautiful campus, and took up some pretty interesting courses!

July 2009

During my internship at HSBC, Qatar, I learned the importance of being driven, in equal measure, by both quality and efficiency. I was assigned to lead a project on my own which greatly built my leadership skills and my ability to motivate. 
 

More About Abdulmunim Kelzieh

Fall 2008

I took Introduction to Java, which was my first class in computer programming. This course opened the gates for me to a world full of innovation and possibilities; a world of computer science.

March 2009

I participated in the works for implementing a touchscreen interface for our campus’s directory. It was a good experience that tied theory with practice and tested my methodological thinking capabilities.

Spring 2009

I took a class called “Concepts of Mathematics”. This course made me see mathematics from a new angle that does not take anything for granted.

Summer 2009

I started learning how to program and create simple iPhone applications. The more I explored the world of programming the more it reconfirmed my passion for the field of Computer Science. I have always been amazed by Apple’s innovations and I hope to become a part of the Apple team in the future.
