Life in Education City

Life in Qatar

With so much to do in a sprawling modern setting, “Education City” is aptly named. But for students of Carnegie Mellon in Qatar, the true “city” experience is found in Doha, one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

A Shining Example of Modern Growth

A shimmering jewel rising alongside a crescent-shaped bay on the Arabian Gulf, Doha stands today as one of the Middle East’s most sophisticated and cosmopolitan destinations.

Benefiting from an unprecedented economic boom, Qatar’s capital city is adding new jobs and businesses at a record pace. This region-wide investment in social and economic sectors is expected to continue, creating excellent employment opportunities for Carnegie Mellon graduates.

What Can I Do in Doha?

There’s never a dull moment here. Boasting some of the world’s most beautiful shopping malls, movie theatres and luxury hotels, Doha offers an up-to-the-minute urban experience for city and culture lovers.

Want to get together with friends or just get a little exercise? Doha’s iconic 7 km seafront Corniche is perfect for running, walking, or taking in the stunning water views.

For a taste of Qatar’s simpler times, meander through the old-style Souq Waqif, home to small cafes and shops selling everything from carpets and spices to falcons and perfumes.

And if you’re an art lover, one of the world’s largest collections of Islamic themed paintings and sculptures is right here, in the magnificent new Museum of Islamic Art.

The Great Outdoors

Outdoor lovers can hit the links at the Doha Golf Club or enjoy horseracing at the Doha Equestrian Center.   With water everywhere, there’s plenty of sailing and jet skiing in Doha. Or, travel outside the city for dune bashing and quad driving in the sand dunes south of the city.
